Rainy Regatta for VIJC

November 9th, 2009 at Mon, 9th, 2009 at 7:43 am by heidiskrzypek

Wet. Cold. Blustery. Grey. Torrential. Getting the idea? This past Saturday, rowing teams gathered at Greenlake Small Craft Center from hundreds of miles away. Vashon represented…before the whole thing was called off after a couple races due to inclement weather (little lightning  rods, these crafts were!). Oh! But guess what? The VIJC girls took first in their race!  Which girls? I’m not telling (and the boys didn’t do too shabby either). You have to read Weds’ paper issue for that! VIJC kids, along with others who’d come from out of state in their charter buses, methodically packed their crafts and oars back on trailers and cruised into the soggy abyss. You want to see where attitude is everything? Check out the cool, collectedness these kids displayed when an event they were looking so forward to was cut short. VIJC handled it in stride, even the handful of novices who were anticipating their big day. Way to go, Vashon!
